Ringlock ledger lengths determine the spacing between adjacent standards in a scaffold bay, but they do not, by themselves, determine a safe platform span or loading capacity. Start with the work face and the approved scaffold layout. Then choose ledgers whose connection dimensions match the planned grid, and confirm that the decks, transoms and diagonal braces fit the same bay. Tianjin Easy Scaffolding’s published ringlock range lists 610, 914, 1219, 1524 and 1829 mm ledgers with 48.3 mm outside-diameter tubes and a 3.2 mm wall thickness. These are product options, not universal bay recommendations. A buyer should also confirm how the supplier measures each length, since nominal and centre-to-centre dimensions may be labelled differently. This guide turns those checks into a practical component list for a project quotation.

Ringlock ledger lengths for scaffold bay planning

Quick answer: A ringlock ledger is the horizontal member that connects two standards through ledger heads, wedge pins and rosettes. Its specified length usually describes the intended bay grid, but the measurement convention must be checked against the supplier’s drawing. Select it to match the designed centre-to-centre spacing, not by measuring the clear tube between the end fittings.

A bay has two horizontal directions. Along a façade, ledgers help set the distance between standards. Across the scaffold, bay width affects the platform and deck count. Both directions need compatible components.

The published Easy Scaffolding ringlock product page gives the following ledger options. Treat this as an enquiry shortlist: confirm current availability, connection details and the drawing for the exact order before creating a purchase list.

Published ledger length

Approximate imperial reference

What to verify in the layout

610 mm

2 ft

Connection-centre convention, narrow bays and matching decks

914 mm

3 ft

Deck and transom fit across the proposed platform

1219 mm

4 ft

Repeated bay grid and matching diagonal brace

1524 mm

5 ft

Deck support arrangement and access location

1829 mm

6 ft

Whole-system design and intended platform load

The imperial figures are references, not order dimensions. Use the supplier’s millimetre dimension on drawings and purchase orders.

Mark corners, openings and stairs before counting bays. Repeated lengths simplify stocking, while short bays may fit obstructions. Both need matching braces and deck supports. See the ringlock bay-size planning guide for the wider layout.

How to match ringlock ledgers with scaffold decks

Quick answer: Match a deck to the designed support spacing and its end-hook or bearing detail, then check that the ledger and transom arrangement provides those supports. The catalogue name of a deck is not enough. Ask for its overall length, effective support span, hook profile and permitted loading in the proposed configuration.

The ledger connects standards; a scaffold deck forms the walking surface. Depending on the system, it may bear on transoms, deck-support ledgers or other members. A plain O-ledger is not automatically the correct bearing member for a hook-on deck.

Use this sequence when reviewing a platform drawing:

  1. Fix the bay grid. Mark the centre lines of the standards and list the ledger length in each direction.

  2. Identify the deck type. Record steel or aluminium construction, overall length, width, hook-end geometry and locking detail.

  3. Mark actual support points. Show every transom or deck-support member and the span between supports.

  4. Check the full platform. Count decks across the width and flag gaps, returns, access openings and loading areas for the designer.

  5. Confirm the system data. Request the manufacturer’s deck span and loading information for the exact supplied components.

A 1524 mm grid does not mean every 1524 mm deck fits it. Hooks may need another support profile, and effective span may differ from the nominal bay. Any scaffold access layout assembled from mixed stock needs verified geometry and safe working load data.

Frame scaffold supports and locks differ from ringlock rosettes and wedge pins. Formwork and shoring also have different load paths from access scaffolding. State the application clearly when enquiring about mixed stock.

Use the scaffold plank range to discuss material and hooks; select against the project drawing and product data.

Check the connection and system data

Quick answer: A matching length is only one part of a usable ringlock connection. The ledger head must seat on the rosette, the wedge pin must lock as intended, and the supplied standard, ledger and diagonal brace must belong to a verified configuration. Tube diameter or an apparently similar fitting cannot establish interchangeability on its own.

Easy Scaffolding’s published ringlock specification lists 48.3 mm outside-diameter, 3.2 mm wall-thickness ledgers in Q235/Q345 steel. It also lists standards in lengths from 500 to 3000 mm. Those figures describe offered components; they are not a loading chart for a scaffold assembled from them. If an RFQ calls for another wall thickness, a 60.3 mm system or a non-standard length, request a separate drawing and availability confirmation.

Before ordering, compare the following on the manufacturer’s drawings and sample components:

Item

Buyer’s check

Ledger head and rosette

Seating shape, contact surfaces and orientation

Wedge pin

Captive condition, travel and secure fit

Standard and ledger

Tube specification, rosette position and centre-to-centre dimension

Diagonal brace

End fitting and geometry for the selected bay and lift height

Scaffold deck

Support profile, lock, effective span and condition

Base jack and U-head

Use in the designed access or formwork configuration, where applicable

Include erection and dismantling instructions. Inspect for bent ledger heads, damaged wedge pins, cracked welds and severe corrosion. A hot dip galvanized finish does not repair damage or change the safe working load.

The UK HSE scaffold guidance covers ties, loading and competent design. OSHA’s scaffold guidance distinguishes intended loads from component ratings. Use the manufacturer’s data for this ledger.

Build a project quotation from the layout

Quick answer: Send a plan, elevation and component schedule that identify every ledger length, deck support and brace location. A supplier can then check the proposed bill of materials and issue a project quotation for the specific mix. Without the grid, loading brief and destination, a single ledger unit price tells the buyer little about the complete shipment.

A practical RFQ has five parts:

  1. Layout: work-face lengths, overall height, bay grid, lift heights, corners, access and loading areas.

  2. Components: quantities by standard length, ledger length, diagonal brace size, scaffold deck type, base jack and any U-head needed for a separate formwork application.

  3. Technical brief: intended loads, required safe working load information, tie locations, ground conditions and relevant project drawings.

  4. Commercial brief: destination country, delivery address or port, preferred finish, packing method, MOQ and requested Incoterm, such as FOB Tianjin.

  5. Document check: component drawings, material specification, packing list and any destination-specific paperwork requested by the importer.

For customs planning, check HS code 730840 with the importer or customs broker for the actual goods and destination. A 40HQ container loading quantity depends on the ledger mix, pallets, gross weight and route limits. Request an order-specific packing plan.

State the finish and identify non-standard sizes, OEM branding or RAL colors. Our team brings 17+ years of scaffolding manufacturing & exporting experience. The published company profile reports 1,500+ containers exported per year and customers in 80+ countries. Ask for in-house engineering support and project-based technical drawings.

Frequently asked questions

What ringlock ledger lengths can I request?

The published Easy Scaffolding range lists 610, 914, 1219, 1524 and 1829 mm ledgers. Its product page describes 48.3 mm outside-diameter tubes with a 3.2 mm wall thickness for this range. Availability can change, so send the required connection-centre dimensions and quantities with your RFQ. Ask separately about a non-standard length or a longer grid rather than assuming it is stocked.

How do I know whether a ledger fits my scaffold decks?

Check the deck’s end hooks or bearing points against the actual transom or deck-support profile in the planned bay. Confirm the support spacing, effective span and deck loading data for the specific components. A 1524 mm ledger and a deck marketed with a similar nominal length may still have different connection details; a supplier drawing or trial assembly can resolve the fit.

Does a shorter ledger automatically increase scaffold loading capacity?

No. A shorter bay changes the geometry, but loading capacity depends on the entire designed configuration and the condition of its components. For example, braces, ties, deck supports, foundations and the intended load all affect the result. Request the manufacturer’s data for the exact parts and have a qualified person review the project layout before erection.

How much does a 40HQ shipment of ringlock ledgers cost?

The cost depends on the selected lengths, quantities, steel specification, finish, packing and delivery terms. A 40HQ container loading plan also depends on pallet dimensions and weight limits, so a fixed piece count would be misleading. Send a component schedule and destination to obtain a current project quotation, including any MOQ and FOB Tianjin requirements.

Can you ship ringlock ledgers to my country, and how long will production take?

Ask for a destination-specific shipping and document review with your quotation. The company reports customers in 80+ countries, but import rules and freight options vary by destination. For planning, use the published service wording: standard items 15–25 days after deposit; customized items 30–40 days. Confirm the schedule for the actual order and production slot.

Request a ledger schedule and quotation

Send your bay drawing, deck type, target quantities and destination through the project quotation contact page. The team can review component availability, propose a packing plan and prepare a project quotation for the specified ringlock system. For a complete scope, include standards, ledgers, diagonal braces, platforms and accessories in the same enquiry.
